Details
Reika Matsumoto - In the ginkgo forest
2:09 min | 2023 | HD (4:3) | col | stereo | OV (nodialog)
"This is an animation in which fluffy snowmen gather in a ginkgo forest at the sound of a flute and begin to dance.
The overlapping ginkgo leaves on the ground, the warm atmosphere of the forest, and the joyful movements of the many snowmen all come together to express a sense of “healing.”
I created this work with the hope that those who watch it will feel deeply soothed, and that such a world could truly come into being."

I created this work while reflecting on the sensation that arises the moment one awakens from a deep sleep—when the sense of who you are and where you are becomes blurred—and on the possibility that I might have become a different version of myself than the one I am now.
