Von Kyoto aus unternahmen wir eine Tagestour nach Osaka, der größten Stadt der Metropolregion Kansai. Die Stadt ist nicht nur das traditionelle Handelszentrum Japans, sondern war auch Gastgeber der gerade beendeten World Expo 2025. – Ein Tag ist zu kurz, um alle Museen, Tempel und Schreine zu besuchen, aber die 2,6 km lange Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street war ein kulturelles Erlebnis ersten Ranges. Die mit Glasdächern überdachte Einkaufsstraße gilt als die längste ihrer Art weltweit. Am Abend besuchten wir das berühmte Vergnügungsviertel Shinsekai.
From Kyoto, we took a day trip to Osaka, the largest city in the Kansai metropolitan area. The city is not only Japan's traditional commercial centre, but also hosted the recently concluded World Expo 2025. – One day is too short to visit all the museums, temples and shrines, but the 2.6 km long Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street was a cultural experience of the first order. The shopping street, covered with glass roofs, is considered the longest of its kind in the world. In the evening, we visited the famous entertainment district of Shinsekai.
